Resin Tag

 Seaside Hanging Tag

Hello everyone,  I have just discovered the world of 'Resin Art'.  So I had a hunt for some moulds I could try that fitted in with the Seaside Girl Collection.  This is what developed.

Firstly I got curious - what would this resin work in, so I just made up a cupful and gathered a variety of mould types.

I tried it in silicone and clear soft moulds, plastic dish and a sticky tape backed/acetate frame free form.  They all worked, some just removed easier.

My first batch I just used the clear resin.  Once it was cured I coated them with gesso thinking it would paint easier - I found that the wet ink was lifting the gesso in places. So, next I tried colouring the resin by adding a coloured alcohol ink (white).  This worked better with the painting - so now I know.

I cut a piece of cardboard 4" x 5" and sealed it with a coating of gesso on both sides.

I sealed the paper as well (next time I would use a matte) then glued it onto the backing board with glue.

I painted more moulds than I needed with the alcohol inks.  I used a few coats of different colours and the inks blended well onto the resin.

The components I used for this project.  Once I got this far it was just a matter of gluing it all together.  I added some art stones and modelling paste to finish it off.

The finished project.
With the resin pieces, I thought that this idea of a 'hanging tag' could be a nice gift.

Seaside Girl - Endless As the Ocean Card

 Seaside Girl

"Endless As the Ocean" card

Welcome to my next project for Couture Creations using the

'Seaside Girl' Collection.

This time I thought I would make a card with some of the elements from this new collection plus adding some alcohol inks.  So here goes....

I cut the A4 Synthetic paper into quarters and used one of the quarters.  I applied some Alcohol Ink Blending Solution all over the page then randomly dropped the mix of Alcohol inks onto the page.  Each time I used a colour I used the blower to spread the inks around.  The Pearl sheen was stunning and all of the colours were so vivid.  Once I felt happy with the mix I allowed it to dry.

I stamped and embossed the large shell stamp onto one corner, then die-cut it out.

I cut the page on a diagonal and die-cut the other 2 elements.

I glued the inked section to the bottom of the cardbase and added a thin strip of glitter card to it's edge.  I cut out a sentiment panel and inked the edges.

The Liquid Scrap Spots were excellent for gluing the thinner elements - they were clear and gave them height.  I used the a mix of the other glues for the elements.

I cut the coral die-cut apart and spread it around the shells.  On the sides of the card I just added a couple of sequences with a drop of glitter glue in their centres.

The finished project.

Seaside Girl Sea & Surf Layout

 Seaside Girl

Sea & Surf Layout

Welcome to my next project for Couture Creations using the
'Seaside Girl' Collection with the new 200gsm paper.

I thought I would do a layout. I wanted to try and use only the elements from the Ephemera Pack and Paper, I got close, I had to add a couple of Die cuts.  So here goes....

This is the ensemble of components that I gathered together to create this layout.  I fussy cut the port-hole from the sheet and threaded some string around the frame on one side.  I also wrapped some string around one of the posts.

I started by inking edges to all the die-cuts with a blue and a brown ink.
I was just a matter of playing around and see what looked good where and glue it down.

I used the tacky glue to affix cardboard to the bigger pieces and the Liquid Scrap Spots behind the seagulls and the small pieces. The seagulls look like they are floating in mid-air.

A sideways view of the stack.
I brushed a bit of the Gesso over the cardboard and string.

A closer look at the bottom left area.  I ripped some of sheet that had the port-hole and tried to create layers of waves!
I put some of the tacky glue in places then added the art stones and glitter to it.

The finished project.

Seaside Girl Shell in Your Pocket Card

 Seaside Girl

Shell in Your Pocket Card

Welcome to my next project for Couture Creations using the

'Seaside Girl' Collection.

This time I thought I would make a card using only the one stamp set.  So here goes....

I started by laying out the stamps in an arrangement along the front edge.  I needed to see the order I had to stamp and mask. The stamps that are on the top had to be stamped first then masked so that the next images could be stamped.

The masking process.  Because I wanted to colour the images with water based dye inks, I used the Stayz alcohol ink to stamp the images so the inks wouldn't run past the outline of the image.

Once the stamping was done, the colouring started.   I stamped a small area of each colour on a glass plate.  I used a water pen and dye inks for this.

All done, just fussy cut around the outline edge so the inside panel can be seen.

I added a touch of glitter on parts of the shells using a glitter pen.

On the inside, I placed a strip of washy tape just a bit wider than the front cut edge then heat embossed the 'Net' stamp using white embossing powder.

Once the embossing was set, I randomly added blue ink over the area using the blending brush.

I cut out a sentiment panel, distressed the edges, backed with cardboard, added a string tie and glued it to the front.

The finished project.
