Made In Australia Pop-Up CC DT 0719

My finished -  Made In Australia Pop Up

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my next project for Couture Creations using the interesting Sunburnt Country Collection
I created a Pop Up using iconic elements of Australia.  It's just an idea that happened.  It's not really a card - but with craft it doesn't have to be, just as long as it brings you pleasure.

1. I started by stamping all the elements with Black dye ink onto Cardstock - Delicate Medlar and coloured them with Dye inks DarkOcher, and Olive green.  Next,  fussy cut them all.

2. I then die-cut the GDay mate die, from Cardstock - Avalara and Obsidian.  Before gluing them together I offset them a little to create a shadow.  Die-cut the Fenced in,  Eucalyptus Branch, Acacia Branch, Made in Australia and the Australia and Kangaroo dies from their correct colour cardstock.  The Australia die is cut from the Sunburnt Country 6.5" x 6.5" paper pad - Sheet 8B

3.  Die-cut the Kookaburra from Glitter card - Copper, glue it onto black card then fussy cut around the outside edged.

4. I measured the width of the Made In Australia Cut foil and emboss die, added 3cm and cut 4 strips from the orange card - 2 at 1cm high and 2 at 1.5cm high.  At each end of these strips fold at the 1.5cm mark. I used alternate height strips and adhered  them  behind the back of the die.

5.  I split the Fenced In die, and attached it at varying heights on 2 of the strips.  I added a strip of acetate to the back strip to give extra support and to keep it sturdy when standing, Once the framework was in place it is just a matter of adhering all the elements in place.

Aussie Green & Gold Card - CCDT 0419

My Finished 'Aussie Green and Gold' Card

Do you ever wonder sometimes, how you have ever got to where you are?  Well this is one of those moments for me...

For me I think it all began with a kind thought of 'Making something special for a special person/occasion'.  My paper-crafting journey started about 2 years ago with my sister-in-law Darlene, when we were going to make a Photo Album for my son, Boden and his lovely wife Amy's wedding.  It just so happened that there was a craft show on soon in Brisbane after making that decision.  So off we trotted not ever been to one of these events before.  I heard a demonstrator say she has been doing her craft for 20 years - I couldn't believe that this whole new world existed for that long.  We were so impressed with what people we doing.  I met a lady while having lunch that traveled up from Tasmania to go to that show.  She said a funny thing to me - she never thought she would buy a sewing machine to sew paper, I thought - what are people doing??  Well I can say from that moment, the bug has hit me and not a day goes by now that I'm not thinking about 'how is that technique done?'  I don't believe that I have a favourite style yet, I just love trying everything - and enjoying the journey.

Hello, my name is Kaylee Snell and welcome to my first blog post as a Guest Member of the Design Team for Couture Creations.

For those of you who might be new to this game like me, being part of a Design Team is a bit like having a mystery parcel given to you and you can do anything you want with it.  I hope that I can pass on a little bit of inspiration to you to 'give it a go' like those before me have given me.
