Daffodil Gift Bag

Daffodil Gift Bag

Welcome again! Still loving the 'glitter'.  I used the Glitter Card for the tag and used some glitter glue in the centres of the flowers (I can't seem to capture the pretty sparkle in the photos).  This element is from Couture Creation's new collection of Lucy's Every Day Stamps.

I selected the colours for the flowers by looking through the new Alcohol Markers Colour Swatch book . I stamped the daffodils and heat embossed it, then coloured it.  I am a fan of the new magnetic Art Work Station.  It made my colouring so easy.  The magnets are very strong and hold the paper I was colouring very firm.   I used a waterbrush with water and 2 pigment powders and painted a splash of colour for the background.  I added the glitter glue to the centres of the flowers.  I partially cut the border with a trimmer then fussy cut around the extended parts of the flowers.  I added some Crystal Accents over the small daffodil postage stamp then put all that aside to make a gift bag.

I went online to see if there was a simple way of making a flat folded gift bag and I found one.  The link is  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-OcMLewtOo.  I used an A4 copy paper sheet for mine.  I just modified the sizes for the top cuff and the side pleats to fit my stamped image.  This is a easy bag as it has no measurements that you have to stick to.

Once everything was done, I just glued the images to the bag.  I made 2 stamped daffodils so each side had one.  This was just a bit of fun to use a traditional type stamp and not make a card.

Homely Florals Banksia Welcome Home Card

 Welcome Home Banksia Card

Welcome again! Still loving the 'glitter'.  This time I used the Alcohol inks with glitter.  These elements are from Couture Creation's new collections Homely Florals.

I was inspired by Adriana as to how she used stamps in a different way than normal - ie.  part of the stamp, so I had an idea to use the accessory stamp that came with the stamp set instead of the main stamp.

I also thought, why stay with traditional colours of what that flower should be so I used a rainbow of colours.

I used a recently retired slimline card die and cut out 2 panels.

Next I started by making a few stamped images so I could use them as a mask.  When masking, the one thing you have to remember is that the image you want to be in the fore-front must be stamped first.  You then mask that and all the other images are stamped over the mask so when it is finished it looks like that are behind the fore-front image.

I run a strip of double sided tape along the card panel about half and inch from the bottom and then I stamped the images with the embossing ink pad and heat set it with the white embossing powder.  Once I completed that I placed a colour of the alcohol ink onto an acrylic block, used a paint brush and coloured the flowers.  Note, I used photographic paper and as you will see in one of the photos, it bleed a bit - but as with all things in craft, it was not a mistake but just an opportunity to see what you could do to fix it - I just waited for it to dry and painted green ink over that area and to me it looks ok.

The back panel was covered with the same alcohol inks I used for the flowers.  It is mesmerizing to see the glitter in the inks dance around while you are working with them - so pretty.  Once all was dry, I measured the length of the front panel and cut a strip from the back panel in a diagonal direction - this panel was going to be covered so I used it for the strip that was to go onto the front panel.

I stamped the sentiment, fussy cut around the outline of the letters, fixed foam tape to the back of it and stuck it to the die-cut banner.  During the process of seeing what might work, I had die-cut the banner from a test piece of card that I had the alcohol in on, so I used the end pieces of the flag and inlaid them into the banner.

The front panel was mounted onto cardboard before placing it onto the card.  Once everything was glued in place, I found some tiny sequences so I glued them randomly onto the front panel - this is where I though the tweezers were very helpful, the bent tip made it easy to see and handle.

I just wish you could see this card in real life as the shine and sparkle from the inks is gorgeous, I can't seem to capture that on photo.  I enjoyed making this card.  It was a bit of a test to learn new things and interesting to see how combining colours and mediums would work together.  I hope this might inspire you to try new things and be pleasantly surprised as well.

Homely Florals Cards Gift Box Set 2

Homely Florals & Background Stamps Cards Gift Box Set 2

Welcome again!   Continuing on from my last Blog post, I made another set of cards for a Box Set using Couture Creation's new 'Homely Florals' & '5" x 7" Background Stamp Set - Release 1'.

These are 5" x 7" cards.  I made 3, dimensional cards and a box to create a Gift Set.  I mixed the colours this time on these cards but kept some glitter with the embossing powder on the background embossing.

I matted the coloured cardstock and glued it directly onto the card front.   I used a mix of both the black and the white photographic card and heat embossed the background stamps to them.  I trimmed them to a size smaller than the purple mat, blended the dye inks around the edges, mounted them on cardboard then glued them to the card front.

I die-cut the 'happy', 'sending' and 'thoughts' dies from both cardstock and gold mirror board.  I off-set them then glued them both together to give it a shadow effect.

I cut a couple of different sizes and colours of 'hearts' for the sentiment 'my heart is with you' to be mounted on.

There is a lovely lot of flowers in the ephemera pack so I chose a different selection of flowers  for the cards and added foam tape to the backs.   I added more foam tape under the focal flower to make it higher than everything else. Once all the pieces were ready, I just moved them around until I was happy with the placement.  It was just a matter of glueing/sticking all the pieces in place.

I made the box using the diagram with measurements above.   I Scored, cut, burnished and glued it all together.  I have a few photos on my previous post of the assembly of this box.  I kept the box plain but you could bring an element from each of the cards and create an arrangement on the front of the box.

Homely Florals & Background Stamps Cards Gift Box Set 1

Welcome again!   This time using Couture Creation's new 'Homely Florals' & '5" x 7" Background Stamp Set - Release 1'.

These are 5" x 7" cards.  I made 3, dimensional cards and a box to create a Gift Set.  I kept 'purple' as the dominant colour of these cards and snuck in some glitter with the embossing powder on the background embossing.

I matted the purple cardstock and glued it directly onto the card front.   I used a mix of both the black and the white photographic card and heat embossed the background stamps to them.  I trimmed them to a size smaller than the purple mat, blended the dye inks around the edges, mounted them on cardboard then glued them to the card front.

I die-cut the 'happy' and 'birthday' from both cardstock and foam.  I glued them both together to give it height.

There is a lovely lot of flowers in the ephemera pack so I chose a selection of different flowers and colours for the cards and added foam tape to the backs.   I added more foam tape under the focal flower to make it higher than everything else. Banksia Thanks Card

 Banksia Thanks Card

Welcome again! Still loving the 'glitter'.  The gold glitter embossing powder was used on this very pretty background stamp.  These elements are from Couture Creation's new collections Homely Florals and the 5x7 Background stamp sets - Release 1.

I created this card around a colour theme of purple and gold.  I don't think the banksias are naturally this colour but this was the exciting thing to see if they looked good anyway.

So I started by heat embossing the background stamp and the sentiment stamp.  To stop any warping of the card I put a heavy pile of card on top of the embossed image and left it there overnight.

The banksias were created by stamping the stamp with the black outline ink onto white photographic paper and coloured it with the alcohol markers.  I am a beginner at colouring with markers and I have found the colourless blender is my friend - it seems to give a range of colour tones that blend out my inexperience.  Once it was coloured, I added some of the new 'golden age' to the base of the flower - that just gave a lovely touch of gold sparkle.  I then fussy-cut out the image and backed it with cardboard. After I had finished the card, I added some white stroke marks on the flowers to bring them forward and to highlight the petals.

I trimmed the mat pieces to a size I liked and glued the gold card directly to the card front.  I added cardboard behind the front white mat, glued the embossed mat to it, then added the stamped image on top.  I had to have this in place before I could add the sentiment tag.

I created the sentiment tag with oval punches.  I inked the edge of the sentiment one, punched 2 holes either side and threaded the gold string ribbon through them, added a couple of foam squares between them, threaded the ribbon through a gem bead before securing the ends behind the front mat.  I then glued the front mat arrangement to the card front.

The card seemed a bit darkish so I added a bit of white muslin under and in the arrangement to lighten it and give a bit of depth and interest.

I enjoyed making this card.  It was a bit of a test to learn new things and interesting to see how combining colours and mediums would work together.  I hope this might inspire you to try new things and be pleasantly surprised as well.
